'I know I am personally concerned about this,' Tobias said. 'The concern here is that if a judge finds there is a legitimate reason to have [an extended] protective order issued, then Breeden therefore can't carry a weapon and serve in the full capacity. Where do our responsibilities lie with our citizens?'I'd say they lie with getting rid of a police seargent who tries to chop down his estranged wife's kitchen door with a hatchet, but then I'm funny that way.
"To us, he is nothing" reminds me of la raza's motto: "Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada" translated variosly as "For the race, everything. For those outside the race, nothing" or "Through The Race, everything. Outside The Race, nothing."
ReplyDeleteExactly.
ReplyDelete(also I believe this comment was meant for the post following this one)
I live in the Town of Haymarket where all this is going on. It seems the Town Council likes to try and keep things like this under wraps, by saying that these are personal matters, rather then dealing problems.
ReplyDeleteIt is this kind of stuff that makes our Town a joke to the country. Kinda like how our Chief of Police is the K9 Officer, and our police department works Monday through Friday during the day, and the real county police officers patrol at night time and weekends.
If we would get a Town Council and a Mayor that was not afraid to offend people who are wrong, and grow a set to make decisons, our town would be alright.
Normally during a Town Council meeting, they spend 15 mins in front of the public and disappear for a executive session which is closed to the public, and stay there until the public who elected them get tired and leave, usually about one to two hours later, they come out and close the meeting
For Anonymous, I can understand what you're talking about. The small town where I grew up and the small town of my current address have both had council and police related problems at one time or another. My posting this was not to make a joke of your town in any way. My point of view is coming from the right to keep and bear arms, and if a law is going to be made that prohibits someone from possessing a firearm because of a restraining order, then it has to apply to everyone--including law enforcement officers and anyone else who might have "connections."
ReplyDeleteI fully agree with you on your comment about gun laws should apply to everyone.
ReplyDeleteIt should be apparent to our mayor (acting, until one can be elected) pam stutz, that if someone gets a restraining order, or a protective order against them, that person needs to be taken out a place of authority pending the outcome.
And the reference about our police force being a joke, here are a few facts not everyone knows.
1. The police chief is a good cop, but not a police chief. The last time I checked, we had 9 police officers (6 full time and 3 reserve), and yet we do not have 24 hour police protection by our town's police force. Also he requests that the town provide more officers. I am no rocket scientist, but that is more then enough officers to keep a patrol round the clock with back up. Normally it is not uncommon to drive through town and see three police cars at a restraunt, eating together.
2. Officer Breeden is our town's motorcycle officer, who bought his patrol motorcycle and leases it to the town.
3. The police chief is the town's K9 officer. Now on this, I have alot of friends who are in law enforcement in the area, and all the departments laugh at the thought of a police chief who is the K9 officer.
