Found this while browsing the Facebook graphic archives of The Lovecraft News Network. I had seen this once before somewhere, a long time ago but it was nice to run across it again. I believe this is the only visual rendering that The Man Himself ever gave to Great Cthulhu.

I remember the only other time I ever saw this sketch it was small and smudgy, like someone had made a poor Xerox copy of it and then didn't have the budget to reproduce it properly. This is beautifully clear.
ReplyDeleteThe Old Krakenpuss seems a little pudgier than he's usually pictured...a right jolly old hideous abomination from an elder age.
Aaahhhh. . . how neat! My neice brought up an HP Lovecraft library book while visiting this Thanksgiving weekend. It was nice to re-immerse myself for a short while in the Victorian chills of the master.
