Gremlins sighted, headed west

"Did you hear any noises before it died?" said the mechanic.

"Yes," I answered. "I heard an evil shriek and looked out the window. I saw a tiny demonesque figure hanging from the side view mirror waving bits of metal and cackling hideously."

"Hmmm..." he said thoughtfully. "But you didn't hear anything coming from the engine?"

My truck is dead. I think El Capitan's gremlins got me, and I fear that it will take major bucks to fix it. Man. My previous Ranger was still going strong on the original engine with over 300,000 miles on it (12 years old) when I traded it in. This one only has about 130,000 on it and is only 6 years old (I bought it used when it was a year old and had less than 20,000 miles on it). I've already been calculating how many overtime Saturdays I'm going to have to work to get the savings back up to where they are now after we finish paying for it.

  1. I was quite happy with my Ranger. I had it for 11 years, and it had about 180,000 miles on it. Only one major job was done on it (transmission), and that sucker ran like a top.

I can't wait to get another one some day.
