The Eccentric Opera - "Ai no fuga" (Nazca opening)

I don't remember how I came across this one. Most likely, as with most things on the internet (or real life, for that matter), I found it when I was looking for something else. I've never seen this show, and only know about it what I've read. It sounds like the kind of anime I probably wouldn't watch. This is a piece you will undoubtedly recognize, although I would hazard a guess that you've probably never heard a version with lyrics before. So here's the short theme version.

The Eccentric Opera has an official webpage, but it's in Japanese. They haven't been producing as a group since 1998, but here's a page in English that has some information. This "group" were actually two Japanese women who took classical and baroque instrumental pieces, performed them with modern electronic instruments and wrote their own lyrics to them. The lyrics, however, are not modern pop lyrics, but were written to sound classical (whatever that means). This song is based on Bach's Little Fugue in G Minor.

The full version of this song is below. I picked this video because it had the best sound quality; the video component is only a bunch of film of clouds and sky and stuff. So don't worry about the video and just listen to the music.

If you're at least a little like me, you might have thought: those lyrics don't sound like Japanese. Furthermore, you may have thought they somehow sounded vaguely familiar. Or maybe you could tell what they were just by listening. The lyrics are in Latin. Following are the Latin lyrics and following that is the English translation from animelyrics.com.

Omnia Sol Temperat
purus et subtilis,
novo mundo reserat
facies Aprilis,
ad amorem properat
animus herilis
et iocundis imperat
deus puerilis.

*Omnia Sol Temperat
purus et subtilis,
novo mundo reserat
facies Aprilis,

**Veris leta facies
mundo propinatur
hiemalis acies
victa iam fugator,

*Repeat

**Repeat

***Tui Lucent oculi
sicut solis radii,
sicut splendor fulguris
lucem donat tenebris.

*Repeat

***Repeat

*Repeat

The pure, fine sun
Soothes all things
And it renews the Earth
In April.
Master's heart
Hastens toward love,
And the boy god rules
Over only happy people.

*The pure, fine sun
Soothes all things
And it renews the Earth
In April.

**The happy spring
Is coming now,
As the harsh
Winter flees.

*Repeat

**Repeat

***Your bright eyes
Are like the rays of the sun,
Like the lightning
That brightens the dark.

*Repeat

***Repeat

*Repeat
