Here's something I've never seen before.
As you can see from the bottom photo, the other flowers produced by this plant were regular blue bluebonnets, as were all the other bluebonnets in the area.
The cell camera didn't really capture the subtle nuance of this color. It wasn't really pink, nor pale purple, but somewhere in between. Curious, strange and amazing. This was in the area of Nacogdoches and El Sendero.
I've seen white bluebonnets before, a couple of times. I always assumed they were albinos. Never seen a pink one, though.ReplyDelete
I see the same thing with larkspurs around here; most are blue, but now and then in a bunch you'll see a plant or two that are putting out pink blooms.ReplyDelete
That is an interesting look. No doubt, this is the breast cancer awareness version of the bluebonnet.ReplyDelete
